Welcome! Thank you so much for visiting The Writer & Residence.

I’m Anna, and I write from small-town Pennsylvania, cataloguing my adventures in decorating and fixing up my first home, a 1920s brick tudor that I’ve fallen madly in love with. My blog is both a love letter to my house and a creative journal capturing my ideas and inspiration for living well at home.

I post two to three times weekly on interior design and home improvement projects, including “featured interior designer” posts and book reviews highlighting interior design books of note. I love comfortable, classic interiors with a contemporary feel.

I also enjoy blogging about small-town life and local community events, food and cooking, my gardening triumphs and tribulations, and my dog, Archie the Clumber Spaniel.

One of my passions is writing—I work as an editor, have taught college English, and have a PhD in Victorian Literature. It is my hope that, in addition to being a forum for sharing interior design inspiration, The Writer & Residence could become (should I be so bold!) a place for sharing personal essays on living a creative life.

Thank you again for stopping by my blog, and please feel free to comment—comments are always welcome, and I would love to hear from you!

Anna xo
