Taylor’s Farm Market Visit

I know it’s hard to believe, but there was no rain this weekend! It was absolutely gorgeous this past Saturday, so I was inspired to tackle my patio beautification project.

The first order of business was to select some plantings for my containers to add some much-needed splashes of color for my shady “lanai” area, as I like to call it. I decided to stay local and take a trip over to nearby Harrisville to Taylor’s Farm Market, which is one of my favorite places to visit when I’m planning on doing some gardening and container planting. Their staff is always not only super friendly, but very helpful. My visit was a lot of fun—it was nice to see so many people out and about and I think there was a bit of a holiday feel in the air. After all the rain we’ve had, I think everyone was just so happy to be out in the sunshine picking out flowers for their gardens. On the blackboard sign behind the cash registers, someone had written, “Sunshine Alert! It’s a great day for planting!!!” Apparently, a lot of us took that message to heart!

I love visiting Taylor’s because their displays are always so lovely:

They have an amazing selection. I love their hanging baskets:

It’s always fun to stroll through their nursery:

I think their prices are reasonable and pretty competitive:

I got some begonias—they looked really lovely, and they should do well in the shade.

For the veggie gardener, they seem to have quite a big selection. Just look at all these lettuces!

Heirloom tomatoes:

More veggies…

It was an absolutely glorious day. Here’s another shot of more lovely things to choose from:

Taylor’s has a really nice selection of herbs as well, although I didn’t get a photo of those. They also offer homemade jams and jellies and freshly baked bread on Saturdays.

If you’re looking for a little gardening inspiration, and you’re in the neighborhood, Taylor’s is definitely worth a visit! As the folks there like to say: “Happy planting!”
